The Meaning of "Stitching History"

Because so little was known about Hedy Strnad and her family's history, the Jewish Museum Milwaukee had to piece together information bit by bit in a process not unlike stitching a dress. Therefore, this digital exhibit is organized around five interpretive stages of sewing, drawing a parallel between the work of making Hedy's dresses and stitching together her life story.
